Description

LoriDry Birds.

Under certain circumstances, it may be more advantageous for Lories, Lorikeets and Figparrots to eat Lori-Dry food. For example, during the absence of the owner, feeding should be done by people with less experience with birds. Or when in periods of high ambient temperature the owner is not able to feed his birds twice a day. It is also possible that birds obtained from abroad are accustomed to dry food or fruits and therefore are not eager to eat liquid Lorinectar. Juvenile birds can be accustomed to Lori-Dry Birds in addition to liquid Lorinectar. In times when dry food is preferred, birds are already used to dry food.
The nutritional value of Lori-Dry is the same as Lorinectar, however, it is not water soluble. Lori-Dry consists of highly digestible ingredients. Make sure that the birds drink enough water. Droppings will give an indication of water consumption. Bathing water may be contaminated and should not be used as drinking water. Bathing water should be kept in cages or aviaries for limited periods only.
Lori show preferences for certain foods. In the same family there are also individual preferences.
Therefore, birds should never be forced to eat only Lori-Dry.

How to use:
Depending on the circumstances, offer the birds Lori-Dry, Lorinectar or both.
Birds can get used to Lori-Dry food at an early age.
Lori-Dry should remain dry and not be spoiled by drinking or bathing.

Advantages:

Lori-Dry is an alternative to liquid Lorinectar
The nutritional value of Lori-Dry is identical to Lorinectar
At times with high ambient temperatures, one feeding per day should be sufficient
In the absence of the owner feeding can be carried out by strangers without problems
Young birds can be accustomed to Lori-Dry in young age.

Many questions are raised about poultry nutrition. The concept of energy value, the desired nutritional value of poultry diets, the differences between animal and vegetable protein, the function of vitamin E, the use of vitamin and mineral supplements are just a few examples. To our knowledge, only a few professional nutritionists are working in the field of poultry nutrition. Nutritional research published in scientific and poultry journals is hampered more by a lack of professionally trained nutritionists with an interest in poultry and poultry nutrition than by financial funding. In our opinion, both areas of expertise should go hand in hand. Avesproduct has published several books and numerous articles in Dutch. It is a challenge to translate parts into English and publish them on the Internet.

J.P. Holsheimer, our senior research nutritionist, has a lifetime of experience as a scientific researcher in poultry nutrition. He is a visiting fellow of the New York Academy of Sciences and the American Association for the Advancement of Science. The honors were presented to him because of his publications in internationally recognized scientific journals.
