Description
Flourish Nitrogen™ is a concentrated blend (15,000 mg/L) of nitrogen sources. It provides nitrogen in the form of nitrate and, the plant favorite, in the form of ammonia. However, free ammonia is not released because the ammonia contained in Flourish Nitrogen™ is complex and unavailable until utilized by plants. Flourish Nitrogen™ also provides nitrate for plants that rapidly utilize nitrates. For maximum results use with Flourish Phosphorus™ and Flourish Potassium™.
- Why is it different?
Unlike competitive products, Flourish Nitrogen™ is completely phosphorus free, allowing you to adjust the nitrogen level without affecting the phosphorus level.
- Usage:
BEGINNERS: Use 2.5 mL (half a capful) for every 160 L (40 gallons*) twice weekly or if signs of nitrogen deficiency (e.g. poor growth, chlorosis) are observed. For smaller doses, note that one capful is about 1 mL. ADVANCED: The beginner dose increases nitrogen at the same rate as 1 mg/L nitrate. This dose is sufficient to provide approximately 4 g of growth (dry) or approximately 20 g (hydrated) over a 1 month period (assuming all other nutrients are provided). For increased growth, use proportionately more. To achieve a specific nitrogen increase, dose according to the following formula: 0.25vn=m, where v= aquarium volume in gallons*, n=desired nitrogen increase (if using a “nitrate equivalent” value for “n” use a factor of 0.05 instead of 0.25 in the formula) and m=volume of product used in mL. For example, to increase 20 gallons* by 0.20 mg/L of nitrogen you would use: 0.25*20*0.20=1 mL.
Because half of the nitrogen in Flourish Nitrogen™ is nitrate, you can get a reasonable estimate of nitrogen levels by doubling the nitrate reading, or, you can use Seachem’s MultiTest: Total Nitrogen™ (coming soon!) to accurately measure total nitrogen by distinguishing between nitrogen from nitrate, ammonia, and organic nitrogen.
